Copelands’ Job Management System (JMS) is a custom software package that provides job scheduling, task routing, data storage, and internal communication. Through it Copelands generates estimates, issues quotes, places orders, tracks material, and guides manufacturing operations.
Our estimators enter manufacturing tasks to be performed, and the times and costs associated with each one. These are used to generate production schedules, create purchase orders connected with each job, and analyze plant performance after a job is completed. The system stores Drawing Numbers, Revision Information, Material Type, Part Size, Raw Material Size, and Material Test Reports in a searchable database for management and quality purposes.
JMS controls the manufacturing process for each part as it flows through the plant. Each task is displayed at a work-area terminal, and must be performed by an employee and recorded in the database to permit the next task to be scheduled. Tasks may additionally include testing, quality checks, or other unique functions specified by the customer.
Materials we receive are checked against the purchase order and Job Number, then recorded into JMS. Manufacturing operations cannot begin until the required material is in the plant – only then will JMS schedule the order for production. Through the system we can monitor job status and view inventory levels for finished goods and parts in process.
Supervisors are always available to production employees to verify part information, clarify drawing information, assist with first-part-inspection, and generally aid in achieving job requirements. Machine operators set up tooling and equipment to meet customer specifications, produce one part, and perform a first-part-inspection. Periodic dimensional checks are conducted, as well as other Q/A checks that are specified by customers.
If a customer requires Material Test Reports (MTRs), they are stored in a digital archive, searchable by purchase order number, job number, and bill of lading.
JMS allows us to provide and monitor any customer Q/A requirements.
